Tante Nana took a self-driving car home, but the car took her somewhere else.

Uti wrote Buyan in late 2017 as a commissioned work by VICE Indonesia. The short story was published in January 2018 in VICE Indonesia’s Fiction Week 2038, in which various Indonesian writers imagined and wrote about Jakarta in the year 2038.

This work has been translated into English by Zoë McLaughlin and published in the UK by Comma Press in 2020. The original text is finally available on print and published by POST Press in 2021.
